A grand double-height banquet and convention hall wrapped in tall wood-finish aluminium windows, French doors and balcony sliders - engineered for daylight, acoustic comfort and event-scale openings.

SB Convention Hall is a landmark events venue with a barrel-vaulted main banquet, twin pre-function lobbies and full-perimeter balconies. Woodminium delivered the entire glazing envelope - over 60 tall windows, French entry doors, balcony sliders and decorative clerestory glazing - all in a wood-grain dark walnut finish that complements the cream-and-gold classical interior. Every opening was sized for the hall's 8m+ ceiling and detailed for acoustic isolation during weddings, conferences and ceremonies.

The story

The architects asked for windows that would feel like part of the classical column order, not interruptions in it. We co-designed slim-sightline aluminium frames in a deep walnut wood-grain finish so each opening reads as a tall vertical insert between the fluted pilasters.

The main banquet uses a stacked configuration - fixed glazing above, operable casement and sliding panels below - to bring daylight deep into the 12m-wide volume while keeping operable hardware within reach. Decorative grille-pattern transom windows above the entry steps add a signature detail visible from the driveway.

Balcony-facing rooms received heavy-duty sliding doors with toughened DGU glass for thermal and acoustic performance, plus matching top-hung ventilators in the upper clerestory band so the hall can be cross-ventilated between events without opening the main doors.

The entry portico features a custom four-leaf French door system with full-height glass and concealed floor springs - sized to allow furniture and stage equipment to roll straight in from the porch.
