AA 25 is a contemporary two-storey villa where a crisp white-and-WPC-clad facade conceals a deeply private interior built around a pergola-shaded inner courtyard. Woodminium delivered the entire glazing package in a walnut wood-grain finish: floor-to-ceiling four-panel French doors opening from the living and pooja rooms onto the lawn courtyard, full-height fixed picture windows beside the entry, and slim casements punched into the WPC-clad street facade. Black multi-point handles, concealed hinges and EPDM gaskets keep the wood-grain frames sharp, secure and weather-tight.
The story
The brief was a quiet, contemporary villa with a strong indoor-outdoor connection - but on a tight plot bordered by neighbours, the only way to deliver that was inward, through a pergola-shaded courtyard at the heart of the home. We engineered a continuous run of full-height French doors along the courtyard edge so the living, dining and pooja rooms all open onto the same lawn.
Each French door bay is a four-panel set with a hinged operable leaf and three matched fixed leaves, all carried on heavy concealed hinges with black multi-point hook locks. The walnut wood-grain finish was chosen to read warm against the white plaster inside and the steel pergola overhead - and to disappear against the WPC cladding outside.
On the street facade, slim casement windows and a tall picture window pull daylight through the WPC-clad bay without compromising privacy. EPDM gaskets and laminated glass keep the rooms quiet and dust-sealed, while a flush bottom track keeps the courtyard threshold clean and step-free.
